In the beginning

Caron Delpêche Swim School was the first school to register with the AQUATOTS Ⓡ franchise in South Africa (June 2003). This complemented Caron’s Moms and Babes franchise which had already been established. Caron’s Swim School was based in Little Falls for three years before relocating to Ruimsig. It was then that Shane, Caron’s husband, also joined the swim teaching team.

Caron has a background in finance from her Business Management Diploma at Wits Technikon. Inspired by the birth of her daughter, Chandre, Caron trained in early childhood development and stimulation of infants / toddlers (8 weeks until 2 years), and bought into the Moms and Babes franchise. She was further inspired by the benefits of the AQUATOTS Ⓡ program – water being a natural extension and playground for the Delpêche family. Qualified as a dental technician, Shane is a patient and considerate swim instructor as well as passionate about swimming and parenting.

This dynamic ‘husband and wife’ team approach and teach AQUATOTS Ⓡ in a holistic manner. Being parents, as well as professionally qualified instructors, they identify with their clients on many levels. This is further complemented by Caron’s expertise in age appropriate stimulation and training, which suits all the ages and levels of swimming within the AQUATOTS Ⓡ program. Both Shane and Caron are also advanced scuba divers, and they spend most of their recreational time diving and snorkeling with the family in Sodwana Bay.


What makes Caron Delpêche Swim School special?

Making children happy and confident in the water is top priority at Caron’s Swim School. “By providing parents with information and water handing skills, it is really exciting when an infant can be let go – in order for them to swim on their own!” enthuses Caron. “Many parents return to our program with their second children sooner rather than later when they realize what can be accomplished with a committed team.”

Situated in Ruimsig, next to the Delpêche's home, the Swim School is set in a safe and nurturing environment. Children can clamber up the jungle gym and romp around the play ground in and amongst the Delpêche menagerie of horses and dogs, whilst parents can indulge in their personal ‘time out’ in the garden. Caron’s Swim School also holds several events, i.e. fun days and gala days for all ages and levels of swimmers. They even hold a special ‘Daddy and Mommy Session’ at the end of the AQUATOTS Ⓡ course, where the family can celebrate the toddlers’ achievements. In short, considering the benefits of the AQUATOTS Ⓡ program and the positive reward for all involved at Caron’s Swim School this is an experience not to be missed.
